Canada scores highly for quality of life

An annual poll has ranked some of Canada’s cities among the best in the world. Mercer’s Quality of Living Index considers 450 cities and lists the highest ranked 230 based on metrics such as housing, schools, recreation, economy and climate. The top five cities are Vienna, Zurich, Auckland, Munich and Vancouver.

Not only does Vancouver make the top five but when looking at rankings for North America only, Canada dominates with Toronto (15) and Ottawa (17) making the top 20 while the highest-placed US city is San Francisco at number 28.

Canadian cities all rank high for personal safety, with Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver sharing 16th place, whereas no US cities made the top 50.
