Canadian economy has “limited power”

Small business groups say that Canada’s economy has “limited power” and have shown their lowest confidence in the economy since 2009. The Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses report shows little optimism for growth in the months ahead and Ted Mallett, the federation’s chief economist, commented that the economy “seems to still be a drift.” Just 17 per cent of firms surveyed said they intended to increase hiring this year with only 1.6 per cent intending to increase wages.
