CBC real estate sell-off causes concern

The possibility that CBC may sell-off its real estate portfolio has caused concern among many including the industry union. The broadcaster’s real estate director Marc Lapierre says there is no formal plan for a mass exit from property ownership to raise funds and cut costs, however he said that it may be better to lease buildings rather than be owners. The Canadian Media Guild said in a release this week that CBC was planning the sell-off but the broadcaster has responded by reiterating a plan from last year which would divest half of its property portfolio.
