Economy grew, wages dipped

Two key pieces of economic data were released Thursday by Statistics Canada. The Canadian economy showed improvement in January with GDP gaining by 0.6 per cent, driven by a turnaround for manufacturing, mining and retail. However, average weekly wages dipped to $953 a week for non-farm payroll workers as average hours slipped to 32.9, from 33.3 in the previous month.
