Edmonton housing market at risk from labour cuts

The labour force in the Edmonton area is set for a slowdown in the first quarter of 2016 according to a new poll. The latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released Tuesday shows that hiring intentions are significantly lower than recent years with just 8 per cent of employers in the area planning to hire while 16 per cent are considering layoffs and 68 per cent are not intending to change from current levels. Uncertainty over the jobs market and potential increases in unemployment will almost certainly have an impact on the housing market in the region.
