Saturday is Earth Day and ahead of the global environmental focus, research from RBC and the National Research Council of Canada reveals that green buildings have a hidden benefit.
While real estate values and lower energy costs are well known, the new research found that green buildings also boost the productivity of those who work in them.
Analyzing anonymous data on 40,000 of the lender’s employees in more than 70 RBC office buildings, the results showed greater employee job satisfaction in green buildings, along with higher employee engagement and organizational commitment, and higher management-assessed performance.
