Living near one of these can boost house prices

The shift towards more urban living shows that many of today’s homebuyers want to be where the action is and a new report suggests that for Canadians that includes being close to sports. The Real Estate Investment Network says that homes near newly-built or proposed stadiums and arenas have premiums of between 3 and 15 per cent. The report shows that the positive benefits of living within 5 kilometres of a stadium include the additional retail and leisure facilities that are usually part of the package but there can be a negative side if property taxes are increased in the area. REIN will unveil the full report this weekend at an investing forum in Edmonton.
