Mayors to discuss housing as one of top summit agendas

Mayors of Canada’s biggest cities are to meet in Toronto to discuss matters such as housing, infrastructure, and transportation this week.

Regina Mayor Michael Fougere, Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison and 17 other mayors will gather at this year’s Big City Mayors’ Summit in Toronto.

“Infrastructure, transportation and housing – that’s the bedrock of growth for our country and we’re hoping…to talk about how important it is to invest in our cities,” Fougere said.

“We’re going to ask the federal government and all the parties what will you do to address our needs? We’re talking about money and we’re also talking about the strategy to continue to grow our economies.”

Hosted by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the summit will have a roundtable with leaders in business, labour and economics.
