Mortgage lender announces record originations in July

Canada’s largest mortgage institution has announced a record number of originations in July. Dominion Lending Centres’ new mortgage originations hit $2 billion for that month alone. The first half of the year was a positive one for the lender with 35,000 new home loans written in the first six months of 2015, a 25 per cent increase on same period in 2014. President Gary Mauris said: “Certainly we have some sector declines in parts of the country but we know that Canadians are still optimistic about the real estate market and deem it to be an astute investment.” The first-half growth was despite figures showing a recession during the period.
