New affordable housing units set for Alberta seniors in 2018

New affordable housing for seniors in High Level is on the pipeline, thanks to the Governments of Canada and Alberta as they invest $11.7m for a 60-unit lodge community.

The project, aimed at senior Canadians who are unable to keep up with home loan rates, will have 30 lodge units and 30 self-contained apartments. These shall replace the existing 29 apartment units for seniors.

More funds will be provided by the Town of High Level in hopes of completing the development in early 2018.

Seniors may remain in High Level, as opposed to moving to lodges in Manning, Peace River or La Crete, Marketwire reported.
