Real estate start-up hopes to shake-up rental credit scoring

A Nova Scotia start-up is hoping to change the way landlords choose tenants by focusing on more than just their credit score. Milan Vrekic found his experience as a rental property owner was a stressful experience with bad tenants causing damage and leaving garbage at properties or defaulting on rental payments.

So he created the Z-Score. The software-based product allows landlords to score tenants on a variety of risk factors. Vrekic told the Financial Post that his solution could shake-up credit scoring in the rental sector with landlords choosing tenants based on more than just their financial viability.
