Women are the dominant market among single buying condominiums

Women are the dominant market among single buying condominiums, with new numbers suggesting the vast majority are putting down more 10 per cent or more to purchase those units.

These are some of the statistics released by The Financial Post about the dynamic Canadian market.

Approximately 12.6 per cent of Canadian homeowners have lived in a condo. A huge number of owners consist of senior citizens who are ages 65 and above; they make up 29 per cent of the market. Next to them are the younger set with an average age of 35; they make up 19 per cent of the market.
But the largest demographic of condominium owners consists of single-person households who make up 42 per cent.

The region with the most number of condo homeowners is Vancouver at 35.1 per cent.
