Windsor-Essex housing sales up 20 per cent

The Windsor-Essex housing market continues to grow according to the latest data from local realtors. Market activity in June was up 10.23 per cent compared to a year earlier although slightly down on May 2016; year-to-date activity is up 3.56 per cent.

Sales are up 20.4 per cent though year-over-year with 720 homes sold through the Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors’ MLS in June; year-to-date sales are up 18.05 per cent.

Average prices increased 16.64 per cent to $231,880, from $198,801 a year earlier, although prices are down from the average $235,011 in May 2016. Year-to-date average prices increased 13.8 per cent.

The largest increases in sales are in homes above $200,000, not surprising given the rising average price; however, the gains are strong for high-end homes with those priced above $420,000 more than doubling sales and those above $500,000 increasing sales by 500 per cent.
