Canadian snowbirds still top demand in South Florida

International buyers’ demand for homes in South Florida is being driven by Canadian snowbirds although competition from others is strong.

Data from Miami Realtors shows that Canada, Brazil, UK, Argentina and Spain are the top countries driving demand for the region’s homes, as of December 2017.

Canadians are the 4th highest users of MiamiRealtors.com with Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia in the top 3. Among the Canadian home-searchers visiting the site, those in Ontario and Quebec are the most prevalent.

“South Florida is a top location for Latin American homebuyers, but it’s also a top destination for countries all over the world,” said George C. Jalil, a Miami broker and the 2018 MIAMI chairman of the board. “India, Canada, Spain and the Philippines rank among the top-10 countries searching for Miami real estate.”
