All I want for Christmas is… this $19.8m Whistler estate

A luxury estate just minutes from Whistler village is to be auctioned this month with the buyer set to get it for a ‘bargain’ price.

Chateau du Lac was previously listed at $19.8 million but is expected to sell for at or above $10.9 million when it’s auctioned through Concierge Auctions in cooperation with Chris Bradley of Royal LePage Northstar Realty.

The ultimate Christmas purchase is located at 2016 Nita Lane and features a 5,570-square-foot stone chateau set on more than five acres.

The estate totals around 10,000 square feet of living space including the main home with five bedrooms, a French country gourmet chef's kitchen, a master retreat, two-story foyer and dining room, formal study/library, home theater; along with a one-bedroom guest suite with kitchenette, laundry room, and private entrance.

There’s a coach house above a two-car garage, a cantilevered stone terrace overlooking the lake and equipped with a hot tub and barbecue grill, a second floor balcony, and two attached garages, the smaller of which has been converted into a gym.

Unparalleled views
“Constructed of Basalt stone, topped with a copper roof and finished with Venetian plaster walls, Chateau du Lac is a testament to old-world craftsmanship," stated Bradley. "Residents and guests alike will enjoy unparalleled views of Nita Lake and the surrounding mountains from the warm ambiance of this magical mountain retreat, located in the heart of Whistler Valley."

The property is close to three signature golf courses and – with a 1,000 feet of lake frontage – it offers paddle boarding, kayaking, fly fishing, and ice skating/hockey in the winter.

Bidding will be held via Concierge Auctions’ online marketplace and will open digitally December 14th and close at a live auction in Hong Kong on December 20th as part of the firm's December Sale.
