BC commercial real estate brokerage joins global firm

Alcor Commercial Realty Inc. has joined global real estate firm Avison Young.

The Vancouver-based Alcor, headed by principal Aaron Burry, is a boutique commercial real estate management company specializing in property management, acquisition due diligence and consulting, and construction and project management.

"I started Alcor to accelerate my career, to prove to myself that I could start and run a real estate company successfully, and to appease my sense of independence," says Burry. "However, as the business is becoming more competitive, it is now more important than ever to have a team with depth and support – something that Alcor would take another five years to achieve.”

The firm has immediately been rebranded as Avison Young, with Burry becoming a principal of the firm as part of its plan to expand its property management business in the province.

"Aaron's presence will help us recruit more property management specialists, and his team's increasing deployment of technology in day-to-day operations will help us provide more innovative real estate solutions to our clients and business partners," commented Avison Young president and CEO Mark E. Rose.

Eight other Alcor staff have also joined Avison Young.

The acquisition adds 37 commercial, retail and industrial properties totaling more than 1.8 million square feet (msf) under management to Avison Young’s portfolio in BC.
