BC homeowners get help with higher assessments

With more homeowners in British Columbia receiving assessments that are far higher than last year, especially in Vancouver, the provincial government has announced that it has raised the threshold for its grants to help with property taxes. Until the announcement, those with properties valued at above $1.1 million would start to lose some of the $570 grant; now that reduction will start at $1.2 million. Finance minister Mike de Jong says the new limit should see 91 per cent of homeowners receive a grant.
