BC real estate council gets new chair

Elain Duvall has been appointed as the chair of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia.

The provincial government made the announcement Monday and Ms. Duvall succeeds Robert Holmes in the role.

The new chair has wide experience in the industry including 10 years as executive director of the Columbia Housing Advisory Association, several years working at the Housing Centre at the City of Vancouver, and six years as a development manager for Progressive Homes Ltd.

She has also been a board member of the Vancity Credit Union Board, including three years as its chair; and nine years as governor of the Real Estate Foundation.

Her two year term ends September 17, 2020.

Reacting to the appointment, RECBC said:

“The board and staff of RECBC look forward to working under Ms. Duvall’s leadership to achieve our vision: a province where real estate consumers have confidence in competent and ethical real estate professionals. In co-operation with the Office of the Superintendent of Real Estate and the Ministry of Finance, we will continue our work ensuring that B.C.’s real estate sector is trusted and effective.”
