Edmonton home sales up 26 per cent

Edmonton is showing strong gains in home sales as the spring selling season approaches.

There was a rise of 26.6 per cent in February compared to a year earlier and inventory returned to more typical levels from the highs seen in 2016.

“As we head into the spring buying season with stable prices, coupled with increases in unit sales and seasonally-appropriate inventory levels, it seems like a positive sign for our market,” says James Mabey, REALTORS® Association of Edmonton Chair.

Prices were up 2.61 per cent from January and 1.85 per cent from February 2016 for single-family homes with an average selling price of $427,726. However, duplex and rowhouses were down 1.4 per cent (m-o-m) and 1.78 per cent (y-o-y); and condo selling prices were on average down 6.51 per cent (m-o-m) and 6.65 per cent (y-o-y).
