Fewer job vacancies in the second quarter

There were 45,000 fewer job vacancies in the second quarter of 2015 compared to a year earlier, Statistics Canada reported Wednesday.

The 10.1 per cent decline meant there were 392,000 job vacancies and a vacancy rate of 2.5 per cent, down 0.3 percentage points from Q2 2015.

Provincially, the largest decreases were observed in Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Over the same period, the job vacancy rate was little changed in Prince Edward Island, Quebec and British Columbia.
