A new hotel is being developed in Toronto which its owners say will be the first of its kind for Canada.
1 Hotel Toronto is being developed by New York firm 1 Hotels, in partnership with Mohari Hospitality, a global real estate investment company and owner of the building which is currently operated as the Thompson Toronto.
The ethos of 1 Hotels is all about sustainability and in the development of the existing building, locally sourced and reclaimed materials will be used including timber, driftwood, and limestone.
"1 Hotel Toronto will introduce the city to a new standard for an eco-conscious luxury experience, and is the first of its kind in Canada," said Sternlicht. The existing hotel will remain open and operating while the work to create a luxury eco-focused ‘urban oasis’ is completed.
