Avison Young has appointed Martin Dockrill as its chief operating officer, global operations.

The Ontario-based leader has been with the firm for 24 years including several management and transactional roles; most recently as managing director of the Ontario region.

He has brokered more than 10 million square feet of industrial and office space and sold more than $1 billion worth of investment properties during his career.

In his new role, Dockrill will report directly to Avison Young’s CEO Mark E. Rose and will oversee day-to-day operations, and be responsible for working with the firm’s other leaders to attract, develop, and retain talent.

“Since beginning his career with Avison Young as an Associate in 1994, Martin has been with us every step of the way, and through every milestone since we began our rapid growth phase in 2008,” said Rose. “For more than two decades, he has played a key role in our Ontario region’s expansion. Furthermore, he has earned respect as one of Ontario’s – and our company’s – leading commercial real estate professionals. Ultimately, he personifies our culture and our core values of honesty and integrity.”

Dockrill will continue to serve as a member of Avison Young’s global executive committee.
