As the world war on plastic intensifies – including Canada’s ban on many single-use plastics by 2021 – a company in Nova Scotia has built its first home using plastic bottles.
JD Composites’ home in Meteghan River used 600,000 plastic bottles converted into 15 centimetre thick slabs, with the walls being erected in just 7 hours.
The home featured on CBC News which shows the strength and environmental credentials of the new-build.
"It's a bit of an outside approach. Taking from one industry and transferring it over to another. Thinking a bit outside the box, and making it work," JD Composites partner Joel German told the CBC.
