NDP calls for replacement of BC Real Estate Council members

The NDP in British Columbia is calling for Premier Christy Clark to reverse a decision to reappoint two members of the BC Real Estate Council.

David Eby, the official opposition’s prominent critic of housing policy, said in a news release that “it is astounding that the premier would reappoint the same people who were sitting on this council’s board when penalties were approved that are a slap on the wrist for rogue realtors ripping off British Columbians with impunity.”

The two members of the Council that have been reappointed are Elana Valerie Mignosa and Colette A.L. Squires.
The NDP says it will write to the government to demand that the reappointments are reversed in order to “restore some public confidence” in both the regulator and the wider real estate industry.
