Quebec real estate, mortgage body suspends 106 brokers

Failing to complete the required training has led to the suspension of 106 brokers in Quebec.

Brokers are required to complete the Organisme d'autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec’s Mandatory Continuing Education Program and by not doing so the brokers are no longer authorized to engage in any professional activities.

"Suspending the licence of brokers who do not meet the requirements of their continuing education program or their obligations under the Real Estate Brokerage Act is a concrete example of the actions taken to accomplish the important public protection mission entrusted to us as real estate brokerage regulator," comments OACIQ President and CEO Nadine Lindsay.

The brokers affected must now complete the training program to be reinstated.

Consumers can find out whether a real estate or mortgage broker has completed their mandatory continuing education program and check the validity of a broker's licence, using the Register of licence holders accessible via the ‘Check a broker's record’ tool on the oaciq.com website.
