Residential permits slip as single-family intentions fall

The value of residential building permits fell 0.9% in June as intentions in Ontario led four provinces lower.
Single-family home intentions fell 12.5% to $2.4 billion while multi-family permits gained 12.5% to $2.7 billion. Ontario again led the declines for multi-family but also the gains for multi-family along with British Columbia.

Non-residential intentions gained 8.8% though to $3 billion led by offices and student accommodation in Ontario.

The combined residential and non-residential figure was the second highest on record at $8.1 billion, up 2.5% from May.
