Sales down in Kitchener-Waterloo

Realtors in Kitchener-Waterloo have reported a 9.4 per cent drop in sales for October compared to a year earlier. The official MLS figures show that 435 homes were sold through the system compared to 480 in October 2014; with semi-detached (down 23.1 per cent) and condos (down 19.3 per cent) leading the decline. Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors’ president Mark Wolle remained upbeat: “The Kitchener-Waterloo housing market continues to show long-term strength and stability. The shifts in average prices and month to month fluctuations are normal, along with sales easing gradually as we approach the end of the year.” Average prices were up 8.9 per cent from October last year to $417,891 for a detached house and $242,280 (up 14.3 per cent) for a condo.
