Vancouver Realtors launch 25th Blanket Drive

An annual event to help homeless people in the Greater Vancouver Area is getting underway for the 25th year.

The Blanket Drive organized by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver helps around 35,000 people every year and since its relatively modest launch back in 1994 it’s provided warm winter items to more than 385,000.

The drive brings together thousands of Realtors from Whistler to Hope with more than 100 real estate offices acting as collection points for warm blankets, coats, socks, and other winter essentials which are distributed to those who need them most.

The donations are delivered to charities to deliver to the homeless, women and children in need, and those living in supportive housing.

All of the items donated stay in the local community where they are collected.

Realtors are keen to see donations for all ages of:

  • gently used or new blankets or sleeping bags;
  • warm clothing, coats;
  • hats, gloves, scarves;
  • new socks and underwear
