Vancouver has taken the prime position in North America in a global ranking of quality of living.
The Austrian city of Vienna tops the league table from Mercer, followed by Zurich (2), and Auckland and Munich in joint 3rd place. Vancouver takes 5th place.
While San Francisco is the best placed in the US (30), Canada boasts four cities in the top 25 with Vancouver joined by Toronto (16), Ottawa (19) and Montreal (21). Calgary is at 33.
Ottawa also ties with Helsinki in a separate Mercer ranking for City Sanitation, just behind Honolulu.
“Canada continues to be a desirable place to live and work for residents and expatriate employees alike,” said Gordon Frost, Partner and Career Business Leader for Mercer Canada. “In the global struggle for top talent, companies need to focus on understanding the future of work and where their employees want to live. Canada’s stable political and social environment continues to help sustain our high ranking and attract multinational corporations and their employees.”
