Canadians like the basic income idea but want more

The current trial of basic income in Ontario is supported by 53 per cent of Canadians but they say $17,000 isn’t enough.

A poll by Campaign Research shows that younger Canadians and those in Atlantic Canada show the most approval of basic income with men keener than women.

Around half of respondents said that $17,000 per annum was about right but 39 per cent said it was too little. Only 8 per cent thought it was too much.
