Fears raised of increased Vancouver rental bidding wars

A new online service which allows tenants to submit sealed bids to landlords has raised fears that increased bidding wars will be bad news for the Vancouver rental market.

LandlordBC opposes biddwell.com with the association’s David Hutniak telling the Vancouver Sun that it “has concerns about any app that would facilitate or could encourage bidding wars.”

Biddwell disputes that its service will lead to bidding wars, due to the use of sealed bids. Co-founder and CEO Jordan Lewis says his service is about giving tenants “a voice” while helping landlords to find quality tenants.
