Former housing ministers launch affordable housing group

Two former Ontario housing ministers launched a new housing advocacy group Thursday. Alvin Curling, who was a Liberal housing minister; and Dennis Timbrell, who was a Conservative housing and municipal affairs minister; launched Stand Up for Public Housing. The pair have warned those seeking (re)election next month that affordable housing is a huge issue and that the federal government must fund a third of the cost of repairs to the public housing stock. The group will be lobbying candidates from all four parties in a bid to give a voice to those who cannot afford a mortgage or private rentals.
