Wage increases set to be “muted” in 2017 says report

Average Canadian wage increases for non-unionized employees will be 2.2 per cent for 2017 as economic uncertainty sways employers’ decisions.

The Conference Board of Canada has released a preview of its Compensation Planning Outlook 2017 and predicts that the largest increases will be in Manitoba (2.7 per cent) while Albertans will receive just 1.4 per cent more.

Quebec and BC increases will average 2.5 per cent, Ontario and Saskatchewan 2.4 per cent and Atlantic Canada 1.9 per cent.
