Extension announced for CMHC leader

The president and CEO of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation will remain in his role until December 2020.

Evan Siddall was appointed to lead the crown corporation in 2014 and has overseen a period of transition which has included developing the National Housing Strategy and reducing taxpayer risk.

The extension of his leadership by two years was announced by newly-appointed chair of CMHC’s directors Derek Ballantyne on behalf of the minister responsible for CMHC Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos.

"CMHC is playing a key role in bringing to life the government's renewed commitment to housing through the National Housing Strategy. I am pleased that Mr. Siddall will remain President thereby ensuring continuity of leadership at this critical time in the organization's history," the minister commented.

The best job ever
Prior to joining CMHC Evan Siddall worked at the Bank of Canada and has also worked at some of the largest investment banks in Canada and the United States.

But he says that his current role is something special.

"I have often said that this is the best job I've ever had – the most exciting, most challenging and most fulfilling. I am both thrilled and honoured to continue working with CMHC's dedicated and talented staff across the country as we strive to make a difference in the lives of Canadians," he said.
