Tributes paid to Bridgemarq director Trevor Eyton

The board of directors of Brookfield Real Estate Services Inc. (dba Bridgemarq Real Estate Services) has paid tribute to one of its members who has passed away following a brief illness.

The board says it is saddened by the death of the Hon. J. Trevor Eyton, OC.  who was a valuable contributor to the board since joining in May 2014.

Mr Eyton, died on February 24 at Toronto General Hospital, aged 74. All five of his children were by his side.

He was a lawyer, a corporate director and a respected businessman; and had also been a Senator in the Canadian Senate. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada and Queen's Counsel for Ontario.

"We are saddened that Trevor is no longer with us and we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends," said Spencer Enright, Chair of the Board, Bridgemarq Real Estate Services. "We were honoured to have worked with Trevor for the last few years. Trevor brought incredible depth of experience and wisdom to the board. His leadership and engaging personality will truly be missed."

Mr Eyton had also served on the boards of Altus Group Limited, LeadFX, Magna International Inc., Silver Bear Resources Inc., and Cancana Resources Corp.

Dedication to sports

His obituary at Legacy.com highlights his lifelong love of sport and his dedication to sporting and philanthropic organizations including Junior Achievement and the Canadian Olympic Foundation.

He had also been chairman of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. The organization said:

“Our deepest condolences to the Honourable J. Trevor Eyton's family and friends on his passing. Eyton provided leadership to the Hall through our transition from Toronto to Calgary and was awarded Honourary Lifetime Governor. He will be greatly missed.”
