Agents call for ban on Photoshopped images

Real estate agents across the country are calling on the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) to ban the usage of Photoshop in creating marketing materials, arguing that creativity is adding to their workloads.

Frustrated buyers have recently been criticizing agents and sellers for touching up property images in a bid to generate interest, reported Canadian Real Estate Wealth Online last week.

Bill Morris of RE/MAX Home Dependable Service in Surrey, B.C., said he believes the process wastes agent time, and that buyers expect a certain level of truth and transparency from both the seller and the agent.

“I think each of the real estate boards should look at the practice and create some policies to prevent the use of photoshop. We need to stamp it out before it becomes commonplace,” he told CREW online.

Some angry buyers are calling on more drastic measures to be taken, including the immediate revocation of a Realtor’s licence.
