Confidence index still falling

The Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index has slipped lower again for the week to July 3. The main index was down from 56.81 to 56.61 and optimism in personal finances including mortgages, and the wider economy also fell. When asked about property prices 37.97 per cent said they would be higher in 6 months, up 1 percentage point from a week earlier; positivity in job security was also higher. Regionally all provinces with the exception of BC showed lower confidence overall. Homeowners showed increased optimism while renters were less positive. Those earning less than $15,000 or more than $60,000 were most confident.
