Conrad Black’s mansion at 26 Park Lane Circle, Toronto went to auction this week but has been called off due to a pre-emptive offer being made. The 23,000 square-foot home has been in the Black family for 65 years having been built by Thierry W. Despont for the former media tycoon’s father George. Bidders who attended the auction Tuesday were informed that a sale negotiation was underway and that there would be no auction. The sale price has not been disclosed but the estimated price at auction was $21.8 million.
