Cost of housing top priority for more than a fifth

The cost of housing is the top issue for 22 per cent and the second most important issue for a further 28 per cent of Canadian families according to a poll by Nanos Research. The cost of living is the main concern of half. Although the mortgage rates are low, house prices and rents in many areas are of high concern. Those in BC are the most concerned about the cost of housing. Women are more concerned than men; and people over 60 are also more concerned than other age groups. The poll also found that 62 per cent support raising income taxes for the 1 per cent with the highest incomes.
