Housing affordability issues to UN

Canada has not done enough to tackle the housing affordability issues according to activist groups who are now set to ask the United Nations to increase pressure on Ottawa. There are around 30 groups intending to present to the UN committee on economic, social and cultural rights in Geneva next week. The Right to Housing Coalition wants the federal government to implement a nationwide housing strategy, News680.com reports, and hopes that the UN’s committee will agree that Canada is failing in its obligations. The UN committee has rebuked Ottawa in the past; in 2006 it said that Canada was not doing enough to tackle housing affordablity under UN conventions.
