Low-rise homes boost GTA sales, prices

A strong economy which is attracting more people to the region has helped push sales of new homes in the Greater Toronto Area to the third-highest level of the past decade. A new report from the Building Industry and Land Development Association shows that sales of new homes increased by 2 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014 at 41,295 units. The figure is 13 per cent higher than the ten-year average and sales were driven by low-rise homes (up 8 per cent year-over-year) which more than offset a 2 per cent drop in high-rise apartment sales.
