There could be 69,500 new homes across Metro Vancouver if it wasn’t for the red tape holding up their permits.
That’s the view of the president of the Urban Development Institute, Anne McMullin, who is calling for municipalities to cut the delays in processing permits:
“There is no consideration how much time it takes or how much money it costs. We need to build more supply for families, first-time buyers and renters,” she told the Vancouver Sun.
The issues could be as simple as the way steps are painted or lighting fixtures but all must be checked and signed-off by inspectors.
