Modest Hamilton home sells for more than $100k over asking

The housing market in Hamilton has been seeing some heat recently and that has been demonstrated this week with the sale of a modest home in need of some TLC which sold for more than $100,000 over the asking price. The Spec reports that the three-bedroom, Appleford Court home sold for $381,000; the asking price was $279,900.

It also sold fast, in just 7 days, but in that week on the market it was shown to 219 prospective buyers and received 56 offers. Realtor Devon MacArthur of Re/Max Escarpment Realty Inc. told thespec.com: "At its height we had 10 or 12 agents in the house at the same time, it was kind of chaotic. This kind of interest in one property is absolutely unknown.” The interest is even more remarkable given the snowy conditions.
