The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) has revealed a surge in Saskatoon’s housing starts for March, a sign that the area’s real estate investing is booming as “a lot more units have been initiated on a year-over-year basis.”
The CMHC last week said 177 units were initiated in March, compared to last year’s 72 units. Of these numbers, 123 are multi-households, while 54 were single-detached homes.
In total, 579 housing starts have been recorded in the Saskatoon area since the year started, a figure slightly below the 600 units at the same time in 2014, the Picayune Leader reported.
Moreover, CMHC’s preliminary housing begins for Canada final month have been at 13,043.
