Wealth growing faster in Asia than North America

The Asia-Pacific region is now home to more high net worth individuals (HNWIs) than anywhere else and the region’s rich are gaining wealth faster than elsewhere. For those concerned about foreign investors, especially from China, buying property in Canada, it’s likely to further fuel the calls for taxation. Although the US is currently home to the most millionaires (7 million) China now has 4 million. Figures revealed by the wealth management division of mortgage lender RBC show that Asia-Pacific is likely to be the top region for HNWIs by the end of the year. Although real estate may be part of many investors’ portfolios, equities are still the preferred asset class.
